The parents of a toddler who almost drowned in a Bali pool have been given heartbreaking news.

Doctors have told Sydney couple Desmond Sweeney and Dee Tang that their daughter Kawa is essentially brain dead.

The three year old girl has failed to respond to a number of tests, since being in an induced coma at a Perth hospital.

Kawa Sweeney was pulled unconscious from the bottom of the unfenced pool, after slipping into it while the family was staying at a surf villa on Sunday.

Its believed Indonesia's medical facilities weren't good enough to give her the immediate attention she needed.

She went without oxygen for 75 minutes, 7 News reported.

Kawa's father Desmond Sweeney has shared a photo of the toddler at the family's favourite Newport beach in Sydney's north to his Instagram page.

"So much love for our little girl," he wrote.

"We are overwhelmed by your prayers, thoughts and well wishes.

"They are getting us through this difficult time."
