It's possible that there may be a postal vote on marriage equality.

If the compulsory plebiscite fails a second time, citizens will be able to participate in a non-compulsory and anonymous vote which is likely to be held on November 25.

To make sure your opinion on the matter is heard, it's important that you're properly registered.

Now's the time to check that you're enrolled to vote and your details are up to date.

If you're 17 with an upcoming birthday, you can enrol now and be eligible to vote.

Appropriate proof of identity is necessary (such as a passport or driver's licence).

Check your details here.
