Renown for their dry humour and stiff upper lip, Brits aren't letting the latest terror attack on London break them.

Far from it.

Determined not to bend to ISIL-led intimidation and fear, many are taking the Islamist warmongering online with a pinch of salt.

The somewhat ironic hashtag #IslamicStateClaims is drawing plenty of witty tweets.

"#IslamicStateClaims that your call is important to them and will be answered shortly," @gjoselyn wrote.

Another user @Parveen_Comms wrote: #IslamicStateClaims they shot JR, killed Lucy Beale & most recently pushed Ken down the stairs. The b@stards!"

Brits have also been quick to deny on social media that they're reeling in the face of media coverage suggesting otherwise.

"The thugs who mowed down innocent people would love to think of the UK 'reeling' but it isn't. Don't confuse grief with lack of courage," said Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.

While a man attracting plenty of attention is Paul Armstrong who was pictured fleeing the violence late on Saturday, still holding a half-full pint of beer.

Someone claiming to be a relative wrote on Facebook "That's what happens when you're a Scouser paying London pint prices."

@Thismfsmh tweeted "If beer is left behind, the terrorists never win. #NeverSurrender."
