A Melbourne entrepreneur and pet owner hopes to revolutinise pet care with the launch of an app-style veterinarian call-out service that’s been dubbed “Uber for vets”.

Morgan Coleman was unimpressed with the treatment his dog Milky received with a vet and picked up on a gap in the market, which saw him develop Vets on Call, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

"I was really disgruntled at the service I received and when I walked out I thought there has to be a better way to do this," the 27-year-old said.

"I thought about the pain points I felt as a consumer and they were the lack of convenience and that it is stressful not just for the pet but also for the owners as well and also about the affordability."

With Ibisworld valuing the entire market at $3billion, Coleman started speaking with pet owners and vets both in person and across social media.

The move saw him eventually join forces with vet Henry Wong – who has a 3% stake in the business – alongside business partners Nathan Sinnott and Rael Kuperholz, who hold 35%.

Launching in November in the Melbourne metro area, Coleman has invested $60,000 of his own money into Vets On Call, with a standard vet call out fee to be priced from $80 – similar to what consumers would expect to pay anyway.

"We really wanted to create a service that drove value for money,” Coleman added.

“We are starting with the hours of 6am to 11pm which is more for security reasons for our vets.”
