Eels star Jarryd Hayne has formally denied the sexual assault allegations made against him in a US civil suit.

This comes after Hayne was previously cleared of criminal charges regarding an incident in 2015 during his time playing for the San Francisco 49ers.

A woman accused him of sexually assaulting her, claiming that she was a virgin who was saving herself for marriage. She also claimed that she was too scared to report the incident for several months.

Court documents obtained by the Daily Mail show that Hayne, 30, is asking for the sexual battery suit to be thrown out, as he claims that the woman consented to the sexual activity and was ‘not injured at all’.

The response, filed on March 1, saw Hayne deny all allegations of wrongdoing, stating that the woman ‘consented to all actions that took place, including all actions she now claims were non-consensual’.

Hayne also said that the woman followed him out of the bar on the night of the incident and booked the Uber for them to take back to his place.

However, the woman claims that Hayne took her home from the bar despite them having ‘minimal interaction’ that night. She alleges that she was heavily intoxicated and passed out in the car, and woke up the next morning to a ‘pool of blood’ and ‘significant vaginal pain’, which she still suffers from today.

The woman has brought the civil action seeking compensation for ‘emotional pain, anguish and severe distress’.

A mediation hearing has been set for next month.

Jarryd Hayne denies all of the allegations.
