Kiwi Authorities Have Found A Needle In A Strawberry In Auckland

Authorities in New Zealand are investigating after a needle was discovered in a punnet of strawberries in Auckland, according to News Corp.

A customer at a Countdown store — owned by Australia’s Woolworths — bought some WA grown Choice brand strawberries and discovered a needle.

Countdown has pulled all Australian-grown strawberries in response.

“Countdown is in contact with both New Zealand and Australian authorities as they investigate this matter,” a spokesman told News Corp.

“Customers can return any Choice brand of strawberries they may have at home to Countdown for peace of mind and a full refund.”

Countdown aren’t the first Kiwi store to ditch Aussie fruit amongst the sabotage scare, with Foodstuffs having done the same.

There have been over 100 reports of needles in fruit, with many of them believed to be copycat or hoax incidents.
