A man has been convicted of urinating on a woman's back at a Spiderbait concert in what the Magistrate described as vile and degrading.

Joel Morrison denied he weed on Belle Nolan at the gig at Melbourne's Billboard Nightclub in February 2016, claiming it was a case of mistaken identity.

Morrison has been convicted of vile and offensive behaviour and placed on a 12 month good behaviour bond.

Magistrate Franz Holzer rejected his bid for no conviction to be recorded.

"This behaviour I would describe as vile and abhorrent ... and it deserves the strongest condemnation," Magistrate Holzer said.

When Spiderbait heard about the incident, they released a statement on Facebook saying "Belle, we applaud you standing up and taking action.

"This type of behaviour is absolutely not to be tolerated!!! We are going to stop at NOTHING to find this creep."
