A nation-wide recall has been announced for Mazda 2's after a fault was discovered with their park brake.

The recall applies to both hatches and sedans, sold between April 2016 and the start of this year.

Getting technical... Mazda says on some vehicles, the shape of the teeth on the parking brake sector gear may not meet specification. It means engagement between the sector gear and ratchet may be suddenly lost while the parking brake is applied, potentially causing unexpected movement of the vehicle if parked on a slope.

I have a Mazda 2, what now?
The car-maker says it will be contacting affected consumers by mail as soon as parts become available for repairs. Consumers will be advised to present their vehicle to a dealer for repairs at no charge. If you don't want to wait to find out, you can check your cars VIN against this list of affected vehicles.
