Melbourne Cup-Winning Jockey Michelle Payne Stood Down From Racing

Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Michelle Payne has been stood down from riding after reportedly testing positive to a banned substance.

Punters.com.au report that Racing Victoria Stewards will conduct an inquiry on Thursday into the results of a urine sample provided by Payne at the Swan Hill Cup meeting on June 11.

“Stewards received a report from Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) confirming the presence of Phentermine, a prescription appetite suppressant and banned substance in accordance with Australian Rule of Racing 81B, in the sample provided,” the stewards report reads.
