Teenagers are using parent rooms at shopping centres to have sex and "hang out" after school in Melbourne's southwest suburbs.

Parents in Point Cook and Sanctuary Lakes say students loiter at the shopping centre parent rooms, with one parent describing hearing sex noises while breastfeeding in a neighbouring cubicle, the Herald Sun reports on Wednesday.

Sanctuary Lakes manager Emily Grass says students have been known to use the parent facilities to heat food, watch television and escape the cold, but denied sexual activity, while Stockland Point spokeswoman Holly Frendo said the centre's security team regularly patrols the rooms.
