MORE Centrelink, Child Support and Medicare Strikes

Another round of industrial action could cause delays for Centrelink, Child Support and Medicare customers this afternoon, with public servants walking off the job.

It's part of the CPSU's ongoing pay and conditions dispute with Canberra.

Union boss Nadine Flood isn't ruling out significant disruptions affecting members of the public.

"There may be some impact on customers of Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support... although with 36 million calls not answered last year and 5,000 jobs cut, it may be hard to tell the difference"

"All we ask, is that people be patient if you do face delay"

Last month, strike action was halted with both parties agreeing to negotiations overseen by the Fair Work Commission but, as per the past 3 years, Flood says the talks have come to nothing.

"It's ridiculous that this dispute is still going on"

“There are 34,000 hardworking Medicare, Centrelink and Child Support staff who’ve gone well over three years without a pay rise as they’ve fought for a new enterprise agreement. Our members will be striking because they deserve a fair deal, and because their bosses and the Turnbull Government should listen to them.”
