The Brisbane Broncos have been in touch with the NRL Integrity Unit, after one of their own was arrested and slapped with a casino cheating charge.

Just hours after playing in the team's win over Penrith, troubled forward Joe Ofahengaue is due to face Brisbane Magistrate Courts on a charge of cheating by fraudulent act, practice or scheme.

There are reports the charge is related to an incident at a casino Blackjack table.

The club has confirmed it's aware of the charge, having been told by the 21 year old himself.

Broncos CEO Paul White has said the NRL Integrity Unit is now involved.

It's not the first time Ofahengaue, the nephew of former Wallabies player Willie Ofahengaue, has been on the wrong side of the law.. last September he as fined for driving unlicensed.

This latest run in with the law comes just days after Ofahengaue spoke with The Courier Mail about battling mental demons since he was dropped from the side last season. He's only been back in the team a fortnight.
