One of the biggest players in Queensland's drug scene is now behind bars.

Alleged kingpin Piet Luan Ta faced court in Brisbane on Friday morning, 10 months after he was meant to be sentenced for allegedly being the mastermind behind a massive drug syndicate running across Queensland, WA and the Northern Territory.

He never showed up for sentencing and has been on the run ever since, police finally tracked him down to a luxury hotel in Victoria this week before getting him extradited to Queensland.

Ta, who was reportedly well known to bikies and mafia figures, was last year named one of Queensland's six most wanted fugitives.

The 32-year-old will reappear in court on Wednesday where a new sentencing date will be set, he was originally facing up to 14 years behind bars.
