It seems like 2018 is really looking up.

Some companies have offered their employees paid leave for employees during the early days of being a pet parent.

Yes, people are being paid to stay home and play with their new best mate.

Endearingly termed 'pawternity leave', this is intended to give owners time to get to know their new pet and help them settle in.

This comes after a study commissioned by the Blue Cross pet charity showed that four in ten pet owners have taken a sickie because of their pet.

At the moment, it seems as though pet leave is only available courtesy of several Manhattan companies, however it's probably time to petition the boss for some pawternity leave asap.
