Amidst the devastation of Cyclone Debbie, here's a little ray of sunshine.

A baby girl's been born overnight at Whitsunday Ambulance Station.

Ambulance spokesman David Hartley has confirmed the new Queenslander's arrival. "One of the cases of good news which we attended to early this morning was the delivery of a little baby in the Whitsunday area, which was a breath of fresh air for paramedics, who were probably expecting the worst."

Premier Anastasia Palaszczuk is pleased to be speaking about such a positive news too. "When I came in this morning, a big smile on my face. Out of all this adversity, to hear something like that - I mean everyone should be smiling today!"
