At 7.30am this morning a police officer stopped Sydney traffic to help an elderly woman cross the street safely.

41-year-old, Senior Constable David Peters was driving through Randwick when he saw the woman and knew that she needed help.

He pulled over at the intersection of Clovelly Road and Frenchmans Road and flashed his lights to make sure the traffic would slow down.

The touching video is doing the rounds online and it shows the officer walking her across the road while the cars had stopped at the lights.
