An 18-year-old woman has died from the flu, following one of the worst flu seasons Australia has experienced.
According to Nine News, the fact that the flu was accompanied by a bacterial infection resulted in sepsis, resulting in organ failure.
Mild symptoms manifested, however it was just five days later when the teenager, Madeline, fell into a coma and died while in intensive care.
Madeline was a law student and frequently volunteered at the RSPCA.
This flu season has claimed numerous lives, with several deaths in Melbourne and Tasmania.
