Security is expected to be increased at sporting events across Australia after 22 people were killed in a suspected terror attack in Manchester.

Extra police will be patrolling tonight's Liverpool game at ANZ Stadium while security is expected to be tighter at the MCG this weekend.

An immediate review of potential targets in Australia has been ordered while ASIO and FEDERAL POLICE will re-negotiate security arrangements that are already in place - the Australian reports.

Meantime Aussies heading to the UK are now being advised to leave Manchester off their travel itinerary for now as British police investigate if there's a terror cell operating in the area.

It comes with British PM Theresa May this morning increasing their terror threat level with fears another attack could be imminent.
