It's the second week of 2018 and here's hoping your new year's resolutions are still going strong.

For those who've decided that this year will be a battle with the bulge, a good place to start is looking over your diet.

While watching your kilojoule intake each day is a part of most health kicks, it's important to remember that there are some high-calorie foods that are full of nutrition and should still hold a place in your diet.

Instead, it more important to keep an eye on foods at the other end of the spectrum, which are just 'empty calories'.

This refers to foods which does supply energy, but has little nutritional value.

  2. Soft drinks
  3. Lollies
  4. Chocolate
  5. Pies and pastries
