An unemployed western Sydney battler got a life changing phone call last night when he found out he was the sole winner of Powerball's $50million jackpot.

The man, aged in his 30s, was left stunned when an official from NSW Lotteries called him just minutes after the evening's draw.

"No! No! No! Don't tell me that!!! Are you serious man? I'll probably faint," the anonymous winner exclaimed.

“I don’t know what to do. What should I do now? Should I call my mum? Should I hug my wife? What do I do?”

He's been without a job since the end of last year, explaining he and his wife had been trying to work out what the struggling family should do next.

"It’s life changing! I don’t even know how many zeros are in $50 million!”

“I’ll share it with family and friends – if I’m winning, I want everybody along with me to win,” he said.

He even wants to open a restaurant to help others down on their luck.

"That’s my passion – and give 50% of the food away for free to people who need it. I don’t need profits, but there are homeless, students who are struggling, and people in need.”

The winning numbers were 26, 36, 10, 23, 19 and 21, and the Powerball number was 10.
