A man has been charged with manufacturing multiple weapons using a 3D printer in a Sydney home.

Detectives acting on a tip-off launched an investigation earlier this month, and yesterday searched a home unit at Waverley in Sydney's east.

The 27-year-old man was arrested at a unit on Bronte Road, Waverley on Tuesday where police seized four 3D-manufactured pistols including a Glock and Sig 250, two 3D printers, two air pistols and computer equipment.

The man's been refused bail to face Waverley Local Court on Wednesday on charges including possess a digital blueprint for the manufacture of firearms.

A police spokesman said the firearms were yet to be tested to see if they worked.
