Sydney nightclubs using posters of topless soldiers to promote ANZAC Day parties could face prosecution.

The state government not happy with the potential unauthorised use of the ANZAC name.

“As long as I am the Minister I will not allow individuals or organisations to use the day we commemorate the sacrifice of 100,000 fellow countrymen and women in any way that disrespects their legacy,” NSW Veteran Affairs Minister David Elliott told The Daily Telegraph.

One of the nightclubs in question, Stonewall Hotel in Darlinghurst, said it was collecting money for the war veteran charity Soldier On.

Meanwhile, the RSL has come out swinging, slamming a number of nightspots for using the posters to advertise ANZAC Day parties.

The RSL said the ads were disrespectful.
