A teenage girl has been charged after footage emerged of her repeatedly kicking a dog and sharing the clips on social media.

It is alleged that a 17-year old girl filmed a video of herself kicking the dog numerous times and made threats to the dog's owner before posting the film to Snapchat.

It is understood that the incident took place in Gracemere, with the dog's owner sharing the video to Facebook, expressing despair at the attack on his dog, Buster.

The Queensland RSPCA has thanked those who sent the video to the police.

"Thank you again for all who have reported the videos posted to social media recently showing a woman repeatedly kicking a dog in Rockhampton," the organisation said.

"We can now confirm the woman has been charged and is due to appear in court shortly.
