Everything We Know So Far

There's a lot riding on Tesla's highly anticipated Model 3.

Not only will it be the American carmaker's most affordable electric sedan so far, it's also being dubbed a "make or break" model for Tesla.

Dubbed the "EV for the people," pre-orders have reportedly passed 300,000.

To date, spy shots and videos have been the public's only real look at the vehicle, but that's about to change when Tesla pulls the covers off the Model 3 tomorrow.

In fact it's more than just a reveal - it's a party.

The first 30 Tesla Model 3 customers will be driving home in their new cars when they're personally handed over by Elon Musk.

What Colour Would You Like Your Model 3 In Sir?

100 cars will be delivered in August followed by another 1500 in September.

By the end of the year Tesla hopes to be making 5000 Model 3s a week by the end of the year, and 10,000 next year.

So why all the fuss?

In a word... price.

American customers will pay around $35,000 before tacking on options.

Australian buyers can expect to hand over $60000 of their hard-earned, but official pricing is still to be confirmed.

In fact, Aussies will be in for a long wait if they've pre-ordered the Model 3.

Local deliveries aren't tipped until late next year.

Gulp.

With all these new electric cars hitting the roads, Tesla's promised to continue expanding its supercharger network in the U.S. and abroad.

What that means for Australia remains unclear, but prospective local owners are advised to keep a power point in the garage free in the meantime.
