It can only be described as an absolute miracle. A teenage soccer team and their coach have been found alive by rescue crews after going missing for nine days in a partially-flooded cave, in Thailand's Chiang Rai.

A massive international rescue effort has been happening since the boys, aged between 11 and 16, and their 25-year-old coach disappeared on June 23, with Australian police rescue experts and Defence Force personnel arriving to assist in the past few days.

A video on the 'Thai NavySEAL' Facebook page, posted on Tuesday, documented the moment rescue crews finally located the group and to their disbelief, realised they were all still alive.

But the major operation isn't over just yet - the next challenge is getting the group out of the cave, which some have dubbed "a labyrinth".

Rescuers are weighing up the option of making the group use diving equipment to get out, with heavy rainfall hampering efforts.
