A Queensland man who made headlines for flipping the bird at the Prime Minister at a Brisbane pub has appeared in court on an unrelated charge of attempted murder.

A 26-year-old Carina Heights man, Nicholas John Gordon, was charged with attempted murder following an incident on the weekend.

Queensland Police said they arrived at Carina Heights address yesterday at around 12.10am to find a woman in her 30s with significant facial injuries and cuts to her hands.

The man, who alleged PM Malcolm Turnbull cut in front of him at Carindale Hotel last month, was asked to leave the pub after a heated exchange with the PM. When he refused to leave police arrested him.

Gordon appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court today. He's been charged with one count each of attempted murder and contravention of a domestic violence order - he made no application for bail.
