Last night when the stadium announcer called for a minute's silence to honour the victims of last weekend's London terror attack, the 11 Australian players stood shoulder to shoulder in the middle of the field.

However their opponents from Saudi Arabia, milled about on the other side, seemingly ignoring the gesture.Their actions have been described as an offensive snub to Australia and the UK.

Prior to the match the Saudi Arabian team were aware of plans to hold a minute's silence.

They declined the offer to participate to the Football Federation Australia before Thursday's World Cup qualifying match in Adelaide.

Saudi team officials believed that a minute's silence was not aligned with the Saudi culture, but they said would move to the side of the field and respect our customs prior to the match.

The Socceroos ended up winning the match 3-2.
