Telstra Says Sorry

The nature strip outside my Nunawading home has become a sudden hive of activity this week.

It's not the wasps nest I eradicated earlier in the year, or the construction of a townhouse across the road... but a stand off between NBN Co. and Telstra over who messed up my lawn.

If you missed the start of the story yesterday, you can catch up here.

Three weeks after raising concerns about the mud pile to both the Whitehorse Council and NBN Co. we received a response... two in fact.

The first was from NBN Co.

"Thank you for bringing the issue of the nature strip to our attention, we have investigated this matter with our Delivery Partners and have found that this area is not to be released to them until 12/09/17 for nbn construction therefore we have found that this is not an nbn matter."

So who was to blame? The finger was then pointed at Telstra. We've been told a contractor was doing cable upgrades in the street, and mistakenly placed an NBN pit cover over the work, instead of a Telstra branded concrete cover.

The telco issued this statement:

We wish to apologise for any work that has not been properly completed. We are in contact with the contractors responsible and are working to make the repairs as soon as possible.

I'm not an unreasonable man. I will be the first to admit I don't have the most perfectly manicured nature strip in the street. But no self respecting person want's the front of their home reflecting the famous MCG Mud Bath of Queen's Birthday 1989.

The final result, Geelong: 12.17 (89) to Essendon: 4.11 (35). As for my lawn, we'll have to wait and see.

More to come...
