Two people have died following a gastro outbreak in an aged care home in Queensland.

A gastro outbreak has hit a number of child and aged care facilities across Australia's’s east coast.

Queensland Health has confirmed two deaths at seperate facilities Nine Network reported on Thursday. 

In Melbourne, there's been a huge number of aged-care facilities affected. 

“It’s reasonable to say in the last fortnight we’ve had 20 facilities (affected),” said Department of Health and Human Services spokesman, Bram Alexandra, told News.com.au.

After three of Bupa’s Melbourne facilities presented symptoms guests were advised to avoid visiting the home.

In NSW wore than 1900 people in NSW sought help from emergency departments in the past week, and more than 400 were admitted to hospital.
