A Cairns Uber driver has lost his job after he was allegedly caught drink driving twice within an hour.

Uber had only been operating in the city for two days when the 36-year-old man was pulled over with three passengers in his vehicle.

He was breathalysed and registered a blood alcohol level of .09, according to News Corp.

He was then caught an hour later just a short way down the road, breathalysed again, and this time returned a reading of .077.

The man has been charged with two counts of drinking driving and one count of driving whilst suspended.

He will front Cairns Magistrates Court next month.
