Virgin has become the first airline to roll out WiFi connectivity on international flights.

After testing on its five Boeing 777s, Virgin will offer in-fight WiFi on all their flights to Los Angeles, becoming the first trans-pacific airline to do so.

Connecting to the Internet will cost $8.99 for one hour or $19.99 for the whole entire flight.

Rob Sharp from Virgin Australia said it was pleasing to offer the new service.

“Most of us use our phones on a daily – if not hourly basis – meaning it can be incredibly disruptive to have extended periods of time when you can’t connect with friends, family, colleagues, or what’s going on in the world," he said.

"We’re proud to be the leader in providing Australians with greater inflight connectivity on international flights.”

It comes after research suggesting three quarters of passengers would have a more enjoyable flight with WiFi availability.
