While the scorching summer heat of the Australian outback is more than most of us can tolerate, the conditions are perfect for staff from Boeing.

The plane maker has brought it's newest jet, the 737-MAX to Australia for testing in our extreme summer.

Before the plane gets the green light to carry paying passengers, it needs to go through a rigorous testing program. That includes seeing how well it can fly in extremely hot and cold conditions. That's where Darwin comes in.

The 737-MAX is being left to sit in the heat for a few days, then testers make sure everything still works. They're also conducting test flights between Darwin and Alice Springs.

When it's time for the same tests in the cold, the plane is taken to Alaska.
