How very hipster of Victoria!

The state's vowing to become home to the world's most environmentally friendly brewery.

Aussie company Broo is lifting the bottle top on its plans to build a $100 million brewery in Ballarat, entirely with renewable energy, including a mixture of solar, wind and biogas.

Giving a whole new meaning to "green" beer, Broo boss Kent Grogan says the facility would champion “green brewing”, with spent grain husks from the brewing process to be recycled as feedstock for a biogas plant at the site.

The aim is to create 100 jobs in the process while staying committed to integrating a raft of state-of-the-art environmentally sustainable technologies, enabling carbon-neutral beer production, Mr Grogan told Herald Sun.

Some of the specs include using just 1.2 litres of water instead of the industry-standard five litres to produce a litre of beer.

Broo already has a set-up in Sorrento and Mildura.

The Ballarat site is pencilled in to open in the second half of next year, we'll drink to that!
