The Hunter is enjoying a nice reprieve from the winter chill.
The top temperature for most suburbs across the region is forecast to reach 23 degrees today and 24 degrees on Friday, which is well above average.
Newcastle's mean maximum temp for July is 17.5 degrees.
The city's hottest ever July day on record was in 1990 when the mercury reached 26.3 degrees.
However this pleasant spell of warm weather won't last long, with the temperature dropping back to 18 degrees on Saturday and 17 degrees on Sunday.
