37yo Charged Over Random Glassing At Newcastle Pub

The victim suffered major cuts

A Central Coast man has been the victim of an unprovoked glassing at a Newcastle pub.

The 35 year old from Ettalong was with some friends at a licensed premises on Hunter Street last night, when a 37 year old man started talking to them.

It's claimed the older man, from New Lambton Heights, then smashed a glass into the victim's face, causing significant cuts.

He was detained by staff before being arrested by police.

He's been charged with malicious wounding and will front Newcastle Local Court on Sunday.

The victim was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment but has since been released.

Police say the accused and the victim didn't know each other.
