Asbestos, Needles Found At Illegal Dump Site Near Cessnock
Tonnes of garbage has been cleaned up.
The notorious illegal dumping ground at McLeod Road in Loxford has finally been cleaned up.
Crews had a particularly tough job getting rid of close to 79 tonnes of garbage at the site which included around eight tonnes of asbestos, a dozen needles, tyres and whitegoods littered throughout the area.
Mayor Bob Pynscent says a heap of children's toys, car seats and prams were also unearthed - suggesting a number of families had been illegally dumping.
“If kids are in tow when parents are dumping rubbish in bushland, it sends a message that this is OK, which is highly concerning.”
