A car has crashed into a house at New Lambton, narrowly missing an elderly woman.

The Holden Commodore ploughed into the 73 year old's bedroom in Russell Road at around 11pm Sunday night.

Police say the woman saw the car's headlights coming and managed to move away just in time, only suffering minor injuries.

The 27 year old driver was taken for mandatory blood and urine testing.

The Adamstown man has been charged, following revelations he's disqualified from driving until 2030.

He's facing Newcastle Local Court today.
