A popular Hunter boat ramp will soon get a major facelift, including 42 new car parks and a new picnic area.
Newcastle City Council and Transport for NSW are giving the North Stockton ramp an $850,000 cash injection, with work to kick off in April.
The current unmarked car park will be paved over and replaced with 42 new parking spaces big enough for cars and their boats.
Another 16 will be earmarked for vehicles to the south of the miniature harbour.

The new and improved site will also boast picnic facilities, a new amenities block and better disabled access.
"The Hunter boating community is set to have a top facility not only for launching and berthing boats but for relaxing by the river," Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes said.
An improved fish cleaning facility adjacent to new wash-down bays for cars and trailers is also part of the project.
Landscaping's set to be carried out to improve storm water drainage, stabilise the foreshore and carry out riverside plantings.
The work is expected to take about four months.
