A child is recovering in a Hunter hospital from the potentially deadly meningococcal disease.
Hunter New England Health says they're in a stable condition.
The age and gender of the child hasn't been revealed.
It's the ninth confirmed case of meningococcal disease in the Hunter New England area this year.
This latest case has prompted a warning to look out for the symptoms - which include fever, headache, nausea and in some cases a reddish/purple rash.
It follows the death of a 25 year old woman in the New England area from the disease last month.
