Two people have been charged over a counterfeit money scam in the Hunter.
It's claimed the 20 year old man and 24 year old woman used fake $50 notes at several businesses in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens over the past week and a half.
Police arrested the pair at Gateshead Tavern on Tuesday.
Officers searched their hotel room seizing counterfeit money, equipment used to make the cash and mobile phones.
Both have been granted conditional bail to face court in March.
It follows the arrest of a 41 year old man who used counterfeit money in Lemon Tree Passage, Salamander Bay and the Maitland Show last week.
