A teenager has been charged with several offences, including driving as an unaccompanied learner, after he led police on a pursuit in Lake Macquarie last night.
Police were patrolling along Neilson Street in Edgeworth at around 10.40pm, responding to reports that number plates had been stolen from cars in the area.
They spotted a Honda Integra driving without any plates and when officers attempted to pull the car over, it sped off.
Officers were then led on a chase through Barnsley and Holmesville, until the pursuit finished in West Wallsend where the car crashed into a gutter.
The 17 year old driver did a runner but was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
He'll face the children's court today charged with police pursuit, driving dangerously, stealing and several other offences.
