Newcastle Woman Charged over Road Rage Incident

Police have now charged the Newcastle woman involved in the road rage assault at Lake Munmorah earlier this week

The incident was caught on a dash cam at a set of the traffic lights on the Pacific Highway at Elizabeth Bay Drive.

The footage was later uploaded to Facebook and widely shared leading police to begin investigating.

It's claimed the man from Windermere Park had been tailgating the car the 21-year-old was in after they over took him.

She then began throwing nails at the man's ute as well as a chisel and has defended those actions saying she feared for the safety of her friend and a young child they were travelling with.

She's been charged with a number of offences including malicious damage, being armed with intent to commit indictable offence.

The male driver who the footage shows punching the woman in the face, was charged yesterday after handing himself into police.

They've both been granted conditional bail.
