Newcastle City Council is happy with the response to its new Park and Ride service.
More than 100 people left their cars at McDonald Jones Stadium on Monday morning and caught one of the free shuttle buses into the CBD.
The buses run every 15 minutes, dropping commuters off at four different stops in the city.
A return service runs in the afternoon.
However council says there are still plenty of seats available for anyone who registers online.
"There were plenty of seats on each of the buses (this morning), so there's lots of capacity for more people to come in on Tuesday and the rest of the week and try the Park and Ride," interim CEO Jeremy Bath said.
"The feedback from everyone who used the service this morning was that they'll be coming back."
The shuttle bus will cost $2 from January 29.
