The afternoon commute is one of the worst times for accidents across the Hunter - especially if it's at the end of the working week.
26 per cent of all CTP insurance claims lodged with GIO across the region over 12 months involved crashes on a Friday afternoon, more than any other time of the week.
The data incorporates injuries to pedestrians, cyclists, drivers and passengers.
"Friday afternoon is when people are most tired, often exhausted from the week and feeling impatient behind the wheel,” said GIO spokesperson Alexandra Foley.
“Failing to give way on the road and tailgating are often a result of impatient driving and are contributing factors to many of these accidents.”
Mondays are the most dangerous day for motor vehicle accident injuries in Sydney.
