A 14 year old girl is among four young people charged over yesterday's wild police chase in Lake Macquarie.

A white Nissan Navara was stolen from a driveway in Myall Road, Cardiff at 5:20am Tuesday.

Police say it was later driven onto a sports field off John Fisher Drive, Belmont causing major damage to the turf.

The ute then crashed into a parked car on Beach Street, Belmont South.

Police initiated a pursuit on the Pacific Highway, with the Navara spotted weaving between traffic and crossing to the wrong side of the road.

The alleged driver - an 18 year old man - reached speeds of 140km/h along the Inner City Bypass, before crashing into a car on Lookout Road, New Lambton.

The stolen Nissan Navara collided with this 4WD, causing rear damage. 

He was arrested along with his three passengers - two girls aged 14 and 16, and a 17 year old boy.

He's facing ten serious charges, however is out on bail to face Belmont Local Court on March 28.

The 17 year old boy was also charged, while the two girls will be dealt with under the Youth Offenders Act.
