Wanted Man Hides In Roof Following Weston Home Invasion

He broke through the roof tiles and fled

A man wanted over a violent home invasion at Weston has gone to great lengths in an attempt to escape police.

The 35 year old's accused of punching a man in the face and hitting him with a hunting knife, during an aggravated break-in in Ninth Street early Sunday morning.

The victim was taken to hospital suffering bruising to his head and face and a cut to his hand.

Police say the home invasion was targeted.

Officers tracked down the accused at a home in Coulson Avenue at Cessnock last night, finding him hiding in the roof cavity.

Police say the man pushed through the roof tiles and jumped out onto the ground below.

Officers chased him on foot through several backyards before arresting him, using capsicum spray.

He's facing court today on several charges.
