Will It Rain During The Newcastle 500?

It's looking like mostly clear skies during the inaugural Newcastle 500.

The Bureau of Meteorology has given its long-term forecast, with blue skies expected on Friday and Saturday and a very slim chance of patchy showers during the final day of racing on Sunday.

Weatherzone predicts similar conditions for the final race of the Supercars series.

Meteorologist Kim Westcott says racing fans can expect warm temperatures coupled with a cool breeze for most of the event.

"We're looking at pretty good conditions, pretty comfortable."

"Temps should be around 26 degrees across all of those days with onshore winds for most of it."

"It's great news for fans who aren't a big fan of the heat."

"Sunday is looking like a pretty warm start, about 18 degrees with a bit of cloud about."

"There is a chance of a little shower or two, but we're talking about 1mm to 5mm - so pretty light and pretty brief at this stage."
