Valiant effort to protect her car!

Woman Fights Car Thief With Umbrella

A woman in her 60's has failed to stop a man stealing her car in St James, despite trying to fend him off with her brolly yesterday.

As she walked to her silver Holden Calais parked on Pitt Street around midday yesterday, she noticed a man in a black hoodie lurking by the car.

When she tried to get into the car, the man allegedly pulled out a knife and demanded the keys.

But she wasn't going down quietly, hitting him a number of times with her umbrella.

During the struggle, she sustained a cut to her hand but is otherwise, ok.

The man did manage to escape in her car, and police are searching for him and the vehicle.

He's described as dark skinned, approximately 152cm tall, medium build, brown eyes, mid to late 20’s with a moustache.
