Melbourne based artist Heesco Khosnaran has been busy painting the mural on the Weethalle silos over the past few weeks and it's almost completed. Heesco was one of nine artists from across Australia to lodge an expression of interest in the silo art project and was selected by a committee comprising Council and community representatives following an extensive short listing process.
The Weethalle Silo Art Project will be the first of its kind in New South Wales. The $10,000 Bland Shire Council project is made possible by grant funding through the Country Arts Support Program, corporate and local sponsorship and the generosity and co-operation of the silo owners, Paul and Jenny Northey.
Heesco brings to the project an impressive resume including major public artworks throughout Victoria including the recent Faces of Fitzroy project and the City of Maribyrnong StreetWORKS program, while he has been involved in major solo and group art exhibitions in Sydney, Melbourne and Mongolia.
The mural is expected to be fully completed by the end of this week and Saturday is the formal opening of such a beautiful creation.
