More than $60 million will be invested into the Junee to Griffith Rail Line Upgrade, improving efficiency for freight carriers and reducing costs for farmers and consumers.

Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight, Melinda Pavey was on hand to make the announcement at the Leeton train station, along with local MPs Austin Evans and Steph Cooke.

Ms Pavey says the work will allow heavier trains carrying up to 25 tonne axle loads to use the track, which will mean an increase in line speeds from 50 to 80 kilometres an hour.
